Whether by choice or by necessity, many families are living more frugal lifestyles. Living frugally does not mean that you have to give up activities that you enjoy.
FRUGAL READING
You can still enjoy your favorite past time of reading by taking advantage of your local library or by downloading hundreds of FREE ebooks from Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble. You don’t even have to have a Kindle or Nook to access the books. Simply download a free app to your smartphone or computer and you’ll have hours of reading material at your fingertips.
FRUGAL MOVIE WATCHING
Is there someone in your family that is a movie buff? There are many resources for enjoying movies without breaking the bank.
Again, become a member of your local library where you can check out movies for FREE!
Sign up for Netflix where you can have unlimited movies streaming straight to your computer or TV for only $7.99 per month. If you like to have movies delivered to your door, you can sign up to have one movie at a time delivered for an additional $7.99 per month.
Blockbuster also offers online streaming with select devices. They offer listings of movies that are FREE to rent or FREE to purchase. Right now when you activate Blockbuster On Demand, you’ll get $25 worth of movies for FREE.
Blockbuster Express and Redbox are another inexpensive way to watch your favorite movies. Movies can be rented from the vending machines for $1 per night when you use a debit or credit card. Sign up for their emails or text alerts to receive codes for free rentals.
Amazon.com offers FREE movie streaming straight to your TV, computer or other device when you sign up for Amazon Prime (which, also, includes many other great features). You can, also, rent movies for as little as $0.99 each without the Amazon Prime Membership.
If purchasing movies is more your style, sign up for Swagbucks and earn Amazon gift cards. You’ll be able to purchase your favorite movie on Amazon.com for FREE with as little as 1350 Swagbucks.
Use one of the above resources, pop some of the that FREE popcorn that you got with coupons and have a Frugal Family Movie Night.
FRUGAL TV WATCHING
Today with cable and satellite, you can spend as much as $200 per month just to watch tv. However, you don’t have to spend that amount of money to watch some great television shows. Hulu.com is a great resource for inexpensive TV viewing. You can sign up for a free membership and watch tv series and movies on your computer or sign up for HuluPlus for only $7.99 per month and get even more tv shows and movies delivered to smartphones, tablets, game consoles and more!
FRUGAL EATING OUT
Although you may have to eat out less often, you don’t totally have to give up eating out. You can get O’Charley and Macaroni Grill gift cards by signing up at Swabucks. You can, also, check out Restaurant.com and get vouchers to local restaurants for as low as $2 each.
Another invaluable resource for saving money at your favorite restaurant is to sign up for email alerts and birthday clubs. You’ll generally receive a coupon or freebie for signing up, a special offer for your birthday and more offers throughout the year.
As you can see from the resources above, you don’t have to feel deprived just because you have decided to live frugally.
What resources have you taken advantage of so that your family doesn’t feel deprived?
