There is no question that clipping coupons has become more popular in recent years as the economy has had its ups and downs. More people are realizing that coupons are just like having extra money. In fact, sites have sprung up all over the Internet showing people how to effectively use coupons so that they are getting the products that they need and saving money at the same time.

One of the biggest problems with coupons used to be that people would clip the coupons for things that they normally would not buy. In other words, if they saw a dollar off coupon for a particular kind of butter that they normally wouldn’t buy, they would clip it anyway. You have to remember that just because there is a coupon doesn’t mean that it’s a good deal. Simply using coupons occasionally is not what will help you save a lot of money. You have to have a plan of attack that you execute every time you go to the grocery store.

Of course, there are coupons for all kinds of different situations aside from buying groceries. You can get coupons for local restaurants, clothing retail stores and other attractions. You should always be on the lookout for coupons because they really are money in your hand. Some grocery stores are even sending out coupons to their customers offering $5 off a $30 purchase, for instance.  As you can see, that is real money!

One thing to keep in mind when looking for coupons online is that there are some scam sites that only seek to gather your e-mail information so that they can start sending you tons of unwanted e-mails. Don’t just sign up for any website that you find because you may end up regretting it in the end. Instead, try to stick with websites that have a good reputation for actually helping people who are interested in couponing.

Here are some examples of websites that are considered safe to use when looking for coupons:

CoolSavings.com: This website offers the consumer the ability to print multiple coupons divided up for the type of shopping they plan to do. There are also listings for free samples that you can apply for.

CouponKim.com: This site offers online, printable grocery coupons as well as their own selection of free samples.

Couponmom.com: This website has become very popular in recent years. Headed up by a mom who saves amazing amounts of money using coupons, this site not only provides printable coupons for shopping, groceries and restaurants, but it also breaks them down by state. The site allows consumers to go in and actually plan out their shopping trips at individual stores while knowing what the sales are in advance. Armed with sale information and the location of relevant coupons, the consumer simply has to clip them and go.

Coupons.com: The site breaks everything down by categories and allows consumers to search for local coupons.

RedPlum.com: Most often seen in the Sunday newspaper insert, Red Plum is actually a provider of coupons. You can visit their online site to see a variety of coupons from different manufacturers and stores.

ShortCuts.com: This website allows visitors to get coupons for themselves and add them to their savings card from a selection of different grocery stores.

CellFire.com: This website also allows you to get coupons and add them to your savings card.

Another great way to save money when you go grocery shopping is to get a store loyalty card. The grocery stores chains, such as Kroger, offer a loyalty card that allows consumers to get discounts above and beyond the normal sales happening in the store. In fact, some of the sales require that the person has the loyalty card to get the discounts. Plus, it usually puts you on their mailing lists so that you also get the additional coupons in the mail.
