Spicy Sesame Peanut Noodles
Ingredients:
Fresh Green Onions ($0.50) – 1/4 cup
House of Tsang Peanut Sauce ($3.28) – 1/4 cup
Tender Green Organic Brocoli ($2.88) – 1 cup
McCormick Sesame Seed ($1.48 with a $0.75 coupon) – 1tbsp
Ronzoni Garden Delight Pasta ($0.99 with a $1 coupon) – 8 oz
Directions:
Prepare spaghetti according to package directions. Drain but reserve 1/2 cup cooking liquid.
Meanwhile, heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add broccoli; cook and stir until crisp-tender, about 4 minutes.
Reduce heat to medium. Stir in peanut sauce and spaghetti. Gradually stir in cooking liquid until desired consistency is reached. Remove from heat and toss with green onions and sesame seeds.
Variation: Cook 1/2 pound thinly sliced boneless, skinless chicken breasts with broccoli in step 2.
*Toast sesame seeds in a small non-stick skillet over medium heat. Stir occasionally until they are golden brown, about 5 minutes.
Cost Analysis:
As written, the recipe will serve 4 people and will cost $7.38.
To double the recipe (serve 8) you will need to purchase additional green onions, and pasta making the cost $7.87.
If you would like to try the variation (add split chicken breast) then you can purchase that on sale for $0.99/lb this week. The recipe recommends a 1/2 lb ($0.49) or 1 lb for the doubled recipe ($0.99).
