thredUP

Thred Up is a swap site that allows you to get rid of the clothing that no longer fits your child and swap it with clothing that will! It is a great way to save money and de-clutter your own items.

I was given a code for a free box at Thred Up in order to try the service and I am impressed. Normally it costs $5 for the box plus shipping fees ($10.70). You do not pay to send boxes; that is covered by the person receiving it. Here are the steps

Thred Up

1. Create an account at thredUP.
2. Build a box of items that you want to swap. You will have the opportunity to describe what is in your box. Right now you can swap toys for the holidays. If you are swapping clothing stick with one size/gender per box.
3. Pick a box that you want sent to you. You can see the description of what is in the box and some members post a link to pictures. You can search by size and/or gender.
4. Pay $15.70 to get the box and mail out a box (free) when somebody chooses your listed box.

I was pretty happy with my box. I got a box of toys for Christmas. A few of them needed to be cleaned, but overall they were in great condition.

I have a free membership to the site, but you can also get a PRO membership. PRO memberships allow you to get “first dibs” on newly listed boxes, email notifications of box recommendations, the ability to compare up to 3 boxes at the same time, and access to Golden Threds.

Golden Threds are a great feature! Each month a new retailer will offer boxes of new merchandise to the PRO members. Pro members will be notified the day it goes up and then if they find one of the boxes then they can claim it the same way they would claim a regular swap box!
