I love to read finance books. I review many of them right here on Little People Wealth. My most recent finance book was Its About More Than the Money by Saly A. Glassman. It is currently on sale at amazon for $13.57 (retail $19.99).
If you took a big hit in the recession or if thinking about finances is an emotional topic then this book was written for you. This book breaks through the emotional barriers to show you how to build a financial plan for the rest of your life. It asks what your priorities are and shows you how to use that information in your financial planning. Just like frugal living, where you want to save on the things that are unimportant to you so you can splurge on the important ones, you want to set up your financial life so your priorities are covered.
Chapters in this book include letting go of what might have been, have investment rules that work for you, the best advice is sometimes about not what to do, and appreciate the value of holding on to what you have. There are twenty-one total chapters and an appendix.
I was sent this book, but I would not be telling you about it if I didn’t love it. I think it is a very down to earth finance planner. Unlike most of the books I review it is written with emotions in mind and although we would sometimes like to take the emotion out of money it usually cannot be done.
