Posting on a schedule is very important if you want to grow your blog. As you gain readers they will start to come back to your blog on a regular basis looking for new content. If they do not see it then eventually they will lose interest and stop checking. This is the hardest thing about blogging. Sometimes it is hard to post! You might run out of ideas or have other things to do, but if you want to keep people engaged then you have to push through it!
Posting on a schedule does not necessarily mean every day. You can set your own schedule. Some blogs only need a post two or three times a week and some even weekly. The key is to decide on your schedule and stick with it. That way your readers will know when a new post will go up.
There are a few tricks bloggers use to keep themselves posting. The first is to have specific days for specific posts. That way you have an idea before you sit down to type. I use this along with my deal posts, money making monday for example. Every time I have a way to make free money online I post it on Monday. If I am out of ideas then I can go searching for that specific topic. There are blogs that use Wordless Wednesday and Thrifty Thursday. I also participate in Freebie Friday. It is a good way to have ideas ready to go.
Another “trick†you can use is scheduled posts. I almost always have posts ready to go. You can schedule them for days you want to take off or save them as drafts so if something were to happen and you could not get a post written then you have a backup plan. It is also a good idea to save ideas as drafts.
There are some great programs that can help you keep track of your ideas and schedule. If you like to see your things online then try Springpad, Evernote, or Google tools (calendar and notebook for example).
Blogger burnout happens, just try to be ready for it. Nothing hurts a blog more than a reader constantly seeing “sorry I haven’t posted in such a long timeâ€.
TASK: Create a weekly plan for your blog.
Tomorrow we will discuss designing your blog.

I stopped by to see your Five Questions, from Friday– where are they? Didn't get to it until now because I had a super busy weekend. (I visited all the blogs listed on your profile page.) Let me know, I'd love to read them.
BTW – This is a great post! (I think I need a schedule for my blog!)
Thanks for the reminder. I always start out with the best intentions and then run out of steam. I'll try to set a schedule like you suggested.
Sometimes, I am able to schedule posts with my blogs, especially when I have a lot of ideas at a time. If I don't have time to write it now, I also just save the idea as a draft and write it later. This is a very good practice, but I do want to be able to schedule posts more so that I don't have to worry everyday about publishing a post and would have days off to do other things. Thanks for sharing a lot of ideas on this post.
It does help to have drafts of posts and ideas for days that you go blank! It is one of those things that I never thought of when I first started blogging. Having little tricks that help give you ideas is always good.
