Important Static Pages for your Blog

make money blogging seriesThere are a few static pages that every site should have! I do not know how many times I have gone searching for how to contact a blog author only to come up empty handed. Without a contact page your readers and advertisers will not be able to contact you! This is very important. You can also include contact information on your About Me page, your advertising page, and in the sidebar of your site if you want. This is probably the most important thing on your blog! You can set up an email that is specific for your site using your domain name or a free account (such as gmail).

The About Me page is also important. It will be one of the first pages that ranks in a search engine and will become one of the top pages that people read. An about me page should be personal. It should have an “elevator” statement about your blog (a short statement that lets the reader know what you are trying to accomplish with your blog) and it should also explain why you feel you can accomplish that. A picture of yourself helps make it even more personal. Readers want to know who you are and this page will do that.

A couple more pages that are important for your blog is a privacy statement (let the readers know exactly what sort of information you are collecting and what it is used for). A privacy statement is usually at the end of the blog, but if you plan on setting up a newsletter then it is advisable to move it to a location close to the newsletter sign up to help calm fears that you are email fishing. You can also include it in your newsletter.

A disclosure is absolutely necessary now. You can write a typical one or a more personalized disclosure, like I did on Little People Wealth, but you have to have one!

TASK: Write an about me page, privacy statement, disclosure, and contact page. Then link to them on your homepage.

Tomorrow we will discuss social networking with twitter.

Make sure you sign up for the series giveaways and today you can gain an extra entry by putting Little People Wealth in your blogroll or by grabbing the Little People Wealth button.  Please leave a comment if you do this!

I have your button [darn it, it's the old one-changing that now =) ] on my site. Is it okay if it's not in the sidebar?

Thanks for this post. I still haven't made an about me and privacy statement page. Is it all right if I pattern mine after Little People Wealth's? I'll write them asap.

I am adding your button to my blogsite, which I started up less than a month ago. I'm glad to have found your site and excited to learn and develop my blog into a better site for my readers.
