Giveaway with The Six O’Clock Scramble Green Cookbook

I am so excited about this review.  When I first agreed to review SOS! The Six O’Clock Scramble to the Rescue: Earth-Friendly, Kid-Pleasing Dinners for Busy Families I thought it was simply a “green” cookbook.  I must say I was super excited about that since I am always trying to eat more organic foods, but seldom have the time to make things completely from scratch.

Then I received the book and I realized it was more than a simple cookbook.  It is an entire system!  The very first section is titled “the well-stocked kitchen (the scramble staples list)” and as I read through the items that the author says you should keep on stock I realized that almost every item on that list are things that are already on my “stockpile” list.  I truly felt like I could do it!  Believe me, if I can do it then you can do it too.

The Six O’Clock Scramble is made up of four sections, each based on a season.  There are five weekly menus for each season.  The menu items are quick to make, healthy, and delicious.  In between the recipes there are short articles on everything from composting to choosing organic produce.

Just to give you an idea of the recipes Week one in the Spring section consists of Lemon-Oregano Chicken, Grilled Carmelized Ginger Salmon, San Francisco Joes, Ravioli with Spinach and Sun-dried tomatoes, and Mango and Black Bean Salad.

You can also get a subscription to the Six O’Clock Scramble online where you can customize your menu plans and get grocery lists.  The cost for this is $19.50 for 3 months, $29.50 for 6 months, $54.50 for a year, or $64.50 for two years.  The book, which is on sale for $12.23 at Amazon (or $9.99 for the kindle edition) comes with a one month subscription.  You do not need a subscription to use the book.

My husband likes to eat well (not a Hamburger helper kind of guy), and when I cook, I'd like a simple way of cooking, with REAL food. Also need simplicity since we eat later in the evening now, since I started a class after work. I think this could be the book/subscription for me, and a better fed family!
