Electric and Hand Mowers Save Money and the Environment

robotic electric lawn mower saleIt’s that time of year!  Time to start your money saving garden and start caring for your lawn.  There is also a up to 50% off sale on mowers at Amazon right now so I figured it is a perfect time to talk about using a hand held or electric mower!

We have an electric mower.  I love it!  It is light, quiet, and we do not have to worry about storing gas and oil.  Not only that, but it is also much better for the environment.  We have the Black and Decker MM275 18-Inch 9-Amp Electric Mulching Mower that is on sale for 50% off right now, but there are lots of other great options.  I really can’t say enough great things about it.  I love that we are not polluting, I love that I never have to pull a cord to get the darn thing on, I love that it is quiet…  I strongly recommend switching to electric if you can!  You will also save money on upkeep, gas, and oil (and it should last quite a bit longer than your typical gas lawn mower).

I’ve looked at the reel mowers and I find them very interesting.  I would love to have one, but I have never actually used one.  Does anybody have any insights as to how well it works.  That would be no pollution at all!  Although they are heavier than our little electric mower.

If only I had the money for this Friendly Robotics Cordless Electric Lawn Mower and Docking Station! How neat.  Never mowing the lawn again… priceless (well, if I had “priceless” in my bank account, but I unfortunately do not have two grand sitting around for a lawnmower).  Does anybody have one they want to donate to me?

Our family used to have one of the old reel mowers. I would beg to mow the lawn so I could use it. If they are oiled & maintained properly, its not that hard (about as heavy as pushing a gas-powered mower). The only thing is going up hill – you have to get some momentum going first, or its pretty hard.

I would LOVE to get another one! I am sure that they newer models are a lot more efficient than the old ones. And for maintenance, just some WD40 and getting the blades sharpened 🙂

Thank you for this post! We currently use an old timey mower with no motor (the reel kind) since our yard is not too big and I like to be environmentally conscious (actually I just wrote my own blog about that recently). My friends kind of laugh about it, but whatever. I like my mower!

They sound great! Our electric mower is only about 5 years old, but if it ever needs replaced then I am totally looking into one of these.

WE have a big yard and need a rider to keep up. But I really want to get a reel mower, just because we have so much trouble keeping them running. It seems that we always need to fix something. We used the reel mowers at my Grandmothers when I was a kids they were fun. So I figured that I could mow around the house for a half hour everyday and I would get in my exercise at the same time. they are fun to use and if we get one I may have to fight with the kids to use it… smile.

It would be hard for a large yard – but great exercise! I love the idea of the kids fighting to mow the lawn 🙂
