In my coupons 101 post I talk about how having a laser printer is important (and cheap) for couponers. Printable coupons are often higher value then the ones you find in a newspaper. Unfortunately, with the cost of ink, printing these coupons on an inkjet can be very expensive.
You do not have that problem with laser printers. Here is the difference:
Brother Small Toner Cartridge = $49 Retail (at Office Max) and prints 1500 pages
Brother Large Toner Cartridge = $68 Retail and prints 2600 pages
Brother Inkjet Cartridge = $26 Retail and prints 325 pages
That means that each printed page costs you $0.026-$0.033 with a laser printer and it costs you $0.08 with an inkjet printer! That is over double the cost. In this case, the laser printer will save you about $5 for every 100 pages that you print.
If you do not use your printer much this can still save you money because the ink cartridges in inkjet printers can dry out. That does not happen in a laser printer. It can be frustrating to have to change a cartridge simply because you have not used it before.
Usually laser printers are expensive, but sometimes you come across a good deal. Right now you can get a Brother Laser Printer (retail $200) for only $69 after a sale and instant $50 rebate. I do not know how long this will last!
If you start at Mr. Rebates then you can get an additional 3% back (making the price only $66.92). If you do not currently have a Mr. Rebates account then you can get $5 when you sign up!

I just have to say that this is a great post! Until recently I have always had inkjets (they're the cheapest, and I always just looked for the cheapest), often Lexmark. I thought I was being frugal either refilling or getting my cartridges refilled, but with my last lexmark they had programed the printer to not work with reconditioned cartridges (so you have to buy from them!). I was so angry! Not only is the price per page higher, inkjets seem to break more often. In the 10 years I've had a computer I can remember having at least 6 printers. Probably more. If I would have invested in a laser printer instead think of all the money I could have saved!
I have this same printer (the brother shown above) and have loved it and haven't had a single problem… and haven't had to change the toner yet (it's been like 6 months!). And this is a great price- mine was on sale and I paid more than that!
After I switched to my laser I wondered why I didn't do it before! They do hold up better, the print quality is better, and I don't fret about printing out whatever I want (even coloring pages for DS, which I used to not allow on the inkjet).
Sounds like something I will need to invest in!
It really does save a lot of money in the long run!
Nice to know about this thing this mean compare to other other laser printer is money saver as well as eco-friendly as well what you say??
yes, you will need a lot less ink using a laser printer vs. an inkjet
