Whatever You Do – Don’t Smile with a Giveaway

Here’s another game for you from 175 Great Games! Leaving a comment on this post within the next 24 hours gets you an additional entry into the Great Games Giveaway. If you haven’t completed the first entry then you can do that here.

This game is Whatever You Do – Don’t Smile and is taken from the book 175 Great Games.

# of Players = 4 or more

Objects Needed = Paper, Pencils, Bowl

Divide the group into two teams. Players should write 5 different funny actions or settings on 5 slips of paper and place them all in a bowl. One player from each team goes to the front of the room. The first player has to choose a slip of paper and act out what is described on the paper. If the opposing player laughs or smiles within 10 seconds then he gets a point. If the opposing player does not laugh then the opposing team gets the point. Then switch sides. Start another round with two new players from each team and repeat the process so everybody has a chance to act and be the person trying not to smile. The first team to score 15 points is the winner!

This sounds like a lot of fun. I think trying to come up with the 5 funny situations to get them to laugh would be a great thinking exercise. This the young ones would enjoy playing too. I really would love to have this book.

Too funny! I would so lose at this. I smile all the time. The boys would get a kick out of doing this when we go out to eat. (laughing)
Thanks for sharing this

This is definitely a lot of fun – it reminds me of a game my mom used to play with us where we just had to stare at each other and not smile. I think it was a version of the "quiet game" though, LOL!
