Giveaway with TJMaxx and Marshalls!

I love TJMaxx and Marshalls! You can always get great prices with their off-price savings without having to wait for a sale 🙂 I love a challenge even more so finding what items I could purchase at TJMaxx and Marshalls for $50 ($25 at each store) was fun!

TJMaxx was first. I never realized that TJMaxx has been around since 1977! They carry high quality, top name, in season merchandise. They have more than 800 stores nationwide and some of them even have an in store designer boutique called “The Runway”. You can go to this site to find the nearest TJMaxx (and to see if your store has The Runway). More that 10,000 items are delivered each week to every store so the merchandise is always changing.

I found a pair of pajamas for my son for $9.99 (suggested retail according to Little Me is $20). They are in a car print so he LOVES them!! He was pretty excited when I held them up at the store. Then I fell in love with a cute (and super soft) newborn set. I haven’t officially announced it yet, but we are expecting 🙂 We do not know the gender yet (if we had then I would have gone way over my $25 limit! There were so many adorable tiny baby things. I will definitely be heading back once I find out if this little one is a boy or girl). The set I found looks like it would work for a boy or girl. It even has an embroidery of a giraffe (always a plus since hubby works with them). Suggested retail for this set (according to the Vitamin’s Baby tag) was $32, but I managed to snag it for only $12.99! Then I bought some snacks (Cashew Brittle, mmm) for me!

For those of you who like to shop and not let people know you bought the item “on sale”, I noticed something really nice about TJMaxx and Marshalls. Their tags are separate from the company tags. In other words, you can cut the TJMaxx or Marshalls tag from the item and still have a NWT item to gift away (with the manufacturers retail price on it, not a sale price). Of course, you wouldn’t be able to return it if you cut the tags off, but in some cases this can be a nice feature.

Next was Marshalls 🙂 Marshalls has been in business for more than 40 years! Most stores have a shoe megashop (who doesn’t love shoes) and many of the stores have a section called The CUBE, which is a new high energy juniors department. Since they have more than 800 stores in 42 states it is likely that they will have one in your area. You can go to this site to find the closest one.

I bought an adorable long sleeve shirt for only $4.99 (retail $10.00), a Nike jacket for $12.99 (retail $54 according to the Nike tag), and an soft organic cotton baby blanket for $9.99 (retail $25).

Giveaway!!! Marshalls has offered a $25 gift card to a lucky reader 🙂 To enter all you have to do is:

  • Let us know what the last off-price savings deal you bought was. If you can’t remember then what are you hoping to get with the $25 Marshalls gift card?

For extra entries you can do one or all of the following (please leave a separate comment for each):

  • Subscribe to Little People Wealth via RSS or email
  • Follow Little People Wealth (left sidebar)
  • Submit a budget or financial question (please let me know if it is okay to use it in a post)
  • Post my button on my blog or tweet/stumble/post this giveaway on a forum (make sure you follow the rules of your forum.

When we bought a house in March I went to Ross to buy our welcome mats. They were $9.99 each. Not that great of a bargain but half as much as the same thing from Home Depot.

I LOVE TJ Maxx. I stop there weekly. I bought a Vera Bradley belt on clearance for $3!
I also bought my little boy a Polo outfit and removed the tags before I realized it was too small. They took it back with my receipt.

Sadly, I don't shop at TJ Maxx or Marshall's because neither is in my area…and I tried to shop at TK Maxx (what it's called in the UK, I guess) when I spent a semester in England but never got there at the right time. >_<

I always buy clearance stuff, though…and while I haven't been to Burlington recently because our branch of it is kind of rubbish, we do have one of those.

Already a subscriber through your RSS feed. If I won the Marshall's card…hopefully I could spend it online, and I'd buy more clothes since I've just started teaching classes. If not I'd save it for next time I go somewhere there is a Marshall's, or try to sell it, I suppose.

Just today, I found a mini digital camera on clearance at Walgreens for $4.59. It was regularly $18, so it's nowhere near top of the line, but it'll be a fun 'toy' for my 4-year old.

I shop at both stores all the time and have the TJX card so I frequently get cashback checks sent to me to spend in the stores. I've been buying a lot of back to school clothing. One of my older sons likes American Eagle and they've been carrying a lot of it lately. We've been getting t's for $9.99, long sleeved shirts for $12.99 and just bought an expensive pair of AE cargo shorts on clearance the other day for $7!!
I shop in every single department there and always stop in ones I see while vacationing in other states to see if I can find any great buys (I always seem to!). I love those stores!!
