Saving Money on Your Phone Bill

The phone has always been a frustrating bill for me. I do have a cell phone and I have gone back and forth on getting rid of the home phone, but since hubby does not have a cell it would actually be more expensive for us to get rid of it. All we need is a phone line out in case something happens and my cell is not available.

MagicJack

There are a few options for a cheaper phone bill though!

TMobile has an option where you can get unlimited nationwide calling for only $10 a month! I am not sure if any of the other cell companies offer similar deals or not – please let me know if the company you use has a home phone program and I’ll add it to this list.

Magic Jack is another great option. Right now they have a free 30 day trial. If you like it then it costs $39.95 for one year (that’s $3.30 a month) or $59.90 for two years (that drops it to $2.50 a month). It is worth a try – if it works then it will save you a ton of money, if it does not then you don’t have to pay a thing!

How does magic jack work? Can you explain a little more? Has anyone tried it? Do you like it?

My mom and sister both have magic jack. You plug it into your computer and a phone. They assign you a phone number and it doesn’t cost you anything after you pay the amount.
Both of them like it so far. I think my sister has had it for about a year.

Thanks Melissa 🙂 That is exactly it! You plug it into your computer and your phone and you can make your calls through your computer line.

Everybody I know personally likes it – I have heard other (online) people say that it is “fuzzy” in certain areas though. That is why the 30 day trial is so nice, you can see if you are in one of those “bad” areas before you go and purchase it.

we don’t even have home phone service anymore, just the two cellphones. We never go over our minutes since we don’t call many numbers outside of our “five” on each phone. Saves us that extra bill, too :o)
