Melissa became interested in cloth diapering shortly after her fourth baby was born. She started a well known cloth diapering website, Diaper Decisions with a friend. In 2005 she had a series of unfortunate events including losing her fifth child to a rare form of fatal dwarfism and losing her two neices whom they had intended on eventually adopting. She re-focused and sold her half of Diaper Decisions.
A couple of years later, when she had her sixth child she said that her “gears started turning again” and she started Bitty Fluff with the idea of having a one stop place for newborn items. She said that her baby girl is the inspiration for doing what she does because she realized what a precious privilege it was to carry a healthy baby.
Melissa’s store is called Coffeybean Boutique (located in Bitty Fluff). Here is what she has to say about it:
My store, Coffeybean Boutique, named for my family name, offers knit items, cloth wipes and wipe solution, wool wash, Icky Spray (an organic, natural alternative to chemical laden antibacterial surface sprays), as well as other creations I make as inspiration strikes. I have done heirloom baby quilts in the past and will offer diapering items in the future.
She said that one of her favorite things is picking out fabrics. She uses quilters quality flannel for her wipes. I think this is an excellent idea! I have a few flannel wipes that did not hold up well, but quilters quality flannel will not pill and will hold it’s color 🙂 She makes wipes that are 7 x 7, which are perfect sized for wipe warmers. She also sells Clean Beans which make a yummy wipe solution.
Melissa has offered to giveaway a cloth wipe solution and cloth wipe set! I love my cloth wipes 🙂 They can be used for anything (not just cloth diapers). Cloth wipe solution makes using the wipes easy. You can put it right in your wipes warmer and they are ready to go!

Thrifty Tip: Find a bank that has Christmas Club accounts. You can sign up to have money taken out from your family paycheck or from another account (ie checking). Divide your Christmas budget by the number of times left for deductions. When Christmas comes you will have the money you need – no stress, no fuss. Put that money in cash in an envelope and go shopping! You can also do this for a vacation.
