Prescription Cards and Clubs – Thrifty Tips Thursday!

A coworker came in the other day frustrated because her insurance would not pay much (if any) of the prescription that her doctor wanted her to get! If you find yourself in this situation there are a few different options you have. Not all of these may offer the drug you need, but between all four of them, they cover most available prescriptions. Many times the price with the club or card will even be lower than your insurance so be sure to shop around! Here are four options you can use when trying to find low cost prescriptions:

Target – $4 Prescriptions
Target sells generic drugs for $4 or a 3 month supply for $10! Here is a list of the available drugs.

Drug Card – 75% off
This is a free coupon card that you can show at your pharmacy to get up to 75% off the drugs you need. You can sign up for it at this drug card prescription site. Print it off and carry it in your wallet so you have it when you need it.

Costco – Low Cost Prescriptions
This is much like the Target deal, but you have to be a Costco member to use it.

Walgreens – Prescription Club

This “club” has moer than 5000 medications available and 400 of them are only $12 for a 3 month supply. You can find a list of the 400 low-cost generic drugs here. It costs to join though (an annual $20 for a single person, $35 for a family). You will also get 10% off walgreens brand merchandise if you join (including their register reward and rebate items).
