Mystery Shopping, is it Worth It?

It's time for another money making series. The Ebay one went over well :-) The next one is going to be on mystery shopping.

I love mystery shopping! It usually does not pay that great, but you generally get to keep the items you need to buy for the shop. I have done mystery shops at electronics stores, grocery stores, office supply stores, restaurants, and more.

So, for this series I will go over:
Never pay to be a mystery shopper! Since this series is not completely written yet it is open to change. What do you guys want to know about mystery shopping? I'll be sure to include it in one of the articles above or maybe you will have a topic that will need an article of it's own :-)

I really want to mystery shop but I have trouble finding places to get started because I live in Nevada. not sure why but many places don't apply if you live in Nevada.
Thanks,
Susy

There are definitely areas with more shops than others - especially if you live in a large city vs. a small town. McDonalds is a big one though and they are most places :)

I, too, live in a small town but would be willing to drive a certain distance for mystery shopping. How does one find places in need of shoppers and/or where do you even begin?

Check out the second article in the series - Becoming a Mystery Shopper. I list a bunch of companies you can start with. They all offer many different companies to mystery shop with. Market Force is one of my favorites.

Once you have worked a few jobs you can go into specific companies in your area and ask if they offer mystery shopping positions. Many of them do, but they like for you to have some experience first.
