It’s time to answer a couple reader questions!
The first question came from Cpullum
When is the best time to check out CVS for markdowns? Do they have a certain day?
I honestly have never noticed my CVS marking down clearance on a specific day. After the holidays they will clearance the seasonal merchandise immediately and it drops about another 10% each week. Those markdowns usually happen on Sundays (in my store).
The second question came from Valeri2350
Which is your favorite, CVS or Walgreens? Why?
90% of the time my favorite is Walgreens. It does change on occasion – if there is a really good CVS week! I like Walgreens more because I can get a $0 OOP easily. The gift card covers anything that I want. CVS requires more thought, I have to figure out exactly how much stuff I am buying, how many ECB’s I have, what tax will be, what coupons… It is a lot of planning to make sure your OOP is less than $1. I often have to buy things I wouldn’t normally have to as a filler (a candy bar for example). At Walgreens I just pick up what I want, use my giftcard to pay for all of it, and then have my giftcard reloaded with my rebates – easy as pie!
If you are a beginner and would like to know more about CVS and Walgreens shopping then start with CVS 101 and Walgreens 101.
