Saving Money with a Gift Box

One of the easiest stress relieving and money saving thing you can do this year is to start a "Gift Box" (gift closet, gift bag, etc).

A gift box is just that - a box with lots of gifts in it. When you see something that is on sale that would work for somebody in your family, a coworker, a friend, etc, you buy it and put it in the box. When a birthday, wedding, Christmas, Easter, baptism, etc comes up you just go to your box, pick out what they would like, wrap it, and give it to them.

THIS RELIEVES STRESS!!! I don't know how many times I have gotten an invite to something and instead of having to run out and buy a gift I can just go to my gift box and pull something. If something unexpected comes up (a new baby announcement, an engagement, somebody shows up with a gift for me) then I can send a gift on the spot - no worrying about when to get out to buy something. At Christmas I find that at least half of my shopping is done before November, which leaves more time to search for gifts for those hard to find people.

THIS SAVES MONEY!!! Most of my gifts retail $30-$50. I spend $0-$25 on them. They look expensive, but since I am looking all year round I set a limit of at least 50% off before I will purchase something. Honestly, most of my items are free (shh don't tell!).

It's a new year. Get a box, clear a closet, confiscate a bag - start that gift box!! Here are some links that can help you get started :-)

I have a gift shelf. It is pretty bare right now, but I am always looking at bargains to refill my shelf.
