Dave Ramsey – Giving Away Wealth & Supporting WAHP’s

I like a lot of what Dave Ramsey says, not all of it, but he does offer a great cookie cutter plan that works for the majority of Americans. Dave Ramsey’s final baby step is “Build Wealth and Give it Away”. I’ve been thinking about that as we get closer to the new year. Giving your wealth away is good for karma and good for the spirit/soul. But, a lot of times I feel like it is just a drop in an ocean of issues.

I like giving my used household items and clothing to Big Brothers, Big Sisters. They come to my house to pick them up, which is super convenient.

I like giving my “freebies” to the Safe Home and to friends/family. The Safe Home’s wish list always includes feminine products, medications, kids toys, cleaning supplies, etc. It looks like a shopping list for the CVS and Walgreens deals! I know they need it and I feel great dropping off a great big box of stuff. I think it is important to remember friends and family too. A little giving can go a long way!

There is always a food drive going on. I have never really had to search for a place to bring my excess food.

I give my extra money to March of Dimes. I love their platform. My parents have done foster care for more than 15 years now and I have seen the effects of prematurity firsthand. Of course, I have seen the effects of many other societal ills, but that is why I give my freebies to Safe Home!

For me, consolidating my charities to the things that are most important to me makes me feel like I can make a greater impact and it makes me stronger when the multitudes of charities come calling. I’d love to give to everyone, but I can’t. I could give $5 to every charity that calls, but that feels less to me than $200 to one.

I believe there is even more to this “Give it Away” step than just charities. Charities help subsets of the population that need it, but there is always the subset that doesn’t ask or may even seem like they don’t need it. Everybody needs a pat on the back, a boost in spirit, even just a compliment every once in a while.

Of course, it is still about giving away wealth.

I’ve been wracking my brain trying to come up with a way to combine those and I finally have it. My first new years resolution….

For the new year I am going to be purchasing at least once a month from a WAHP (Work At Home Person). Generally, purchasing homemade items costs more, but, despite the price difference, I feel like purchasing from a WAHP really makes a difference in somebody’s life. It may be a boost they need, it may be a bit of extra income, or maybe something else entirely. It isn’t giving away wealth in the traditional sense, but it is spreading it around. Spreading it around to people who are trying to make a living on their own. While I will continue to give to my choosen charities, I hope that this new years resolution will also help people.

I will do a blog article on the WAHP’s that I shop from so you can also see first hand the great quality and service that WAHP’s provide and maybe the extra coverage will further help their business. I will also add a WAHP link to my linkbar that will have different stores and what they provide (I may or may not choose from that list when I purchase items). If you want to be added to this page then send a message to LittlePeopleWealth (at) Gmail (dot) Com.

That is a great idea(supporting wahp). I also agree that not everyone that needs help ask for it or has access. I always give to my family and friends first, as I know a lot of them could use the extra help. The ones that don’t necessarily need it still appreciate it too.

I’m really excited about this resolution 🙂 I know a lot of my family/friends could also use a little help but can’t ask.
