Super Healthy & Thrifty Hot Cereal Recipe

Now for my cereal recipe. I have changed it slightly because using oats makes a thicker cereal (which DS likes).

RECIPE

5 Tbs 2 1/2 oz long grain brown rice ($0.12)
5 Tbs Millet ($0.16)
5 Tbs Rolled Oats ($0.22)
5 Tbs Steel Cut Oats ($0.25)
8 Tbs Legumes ($0.40)
3 Tbs Brewers Yeast ($0.40)
8 Egg Yolks ($0.53)

Combine all ingredients (dry) into a food processor and mix until you get a powder (about two minutes). This will make 16 half cup servings. I split it into four cups and cook it (4) servings at a time.

To cook:

1) Boil 2 cups water

2) Add 2 Tbs powder cereal mix slowly

3) Whisk so it doesn’t boil over, it will take about 10 minutes to get to a thick cereal consistency

4) I then add 2 egg yolks and split it into 4 servings

You can also add fruit to make it sweeter.

Kind of, it is a lot healthier and you have to keep it in the freezer. I would say it is in between cream of wheat and oatmeal.
