Adding a Favicon to your Blog

More blog changes! This one was really simple and I like the effect! A favicon is the little image that appears before the address of your blog in the tab and address bar when you use Firefox and in your “favorites” link in both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

If you can’t find my favicon and you still want to know what it is then just bookmark this page and then go back to your bookmarks and low and behold, there is a picture there instead of the “Blogger” icon.

This was very simple to do.

1) Create the favicon that you wish to use here

2) Go to your Blogger dashboard and create a new post. Upload your icon as an image in the post. Save this post so backdate or explain what you are doing it so it will not be confusing for visitors!

3) Go to Layout>Edit HTML in your Blogger dashboard. Just before the closing head tag, paste the following section of code:

< href="'http://your-icon-url.png‘ rel=’shortcut icon’/ >

< href="
“‘http://your-icon-url.png‘ rel=’icon’/ >

Replace the URLs in purple with the URL from your post. Go back to the post with your little image and do a right click and click on “copy image location”.

4) Save your template. Your new favicon will now appear in the address bar!
